mammography CAD (computer aided detection). The CAD PRO Advantage sets a new standard

increased speed, exceptional consistency and repeatability, and reliable film feeding that improves
workflow and productivity in busy mammography centers.
- Sensitive to the ever-changing needs of customers in the demanding healthcare field, VIDAR has
focused on providing technology solutions even before the marketplace identified the need. This
singular focus has allowed the company to pioneer a series of product innovations that have
dramatically changed the field of film digitization, including the introduction of high-definition CCD
(HD-CCD ®) technology.
- VIDAR again has raised the bar with the Advantage product platform, evolved from its hallmark

VIDAR SmartFeeder®
- Reliable film feeding — in particular continuous case loading — is paramount for mammography
CAD. New customer requirements for immediate processing of multiple studies have signaled a
need for feeders that allow continuous loading of cases. VIDAR has overcome the limitations of
traditional batch feeders by developing a new category of film feeder designed for the highest reliability, productivity, and ease of use.
- The CAD PRO Advantage digitizer offers the option of either a 50- or 100-sheet VIDAR
SmartFeeder. This state-of-the-art modular film feeder fits seamlessly into the clinical workflow of
mammography CAD centers. Unlike most film feeders, new cases can be continuously added to
the VIDAR SmartFeeder without pausing and then resuming the digitizer’s operation, preventing
reliability problems and lost productivity. Films are added to the top, so technologists are not
required to lift films to add new cases to the bottom or back of the stack. In addition, the feeder
accommodates mixed-size films in any order and does not require grouping of large and small
films. The sequence of cases is not interrupted due to logistical problems with the film feeder —
the first case to be loaded is the first case to be digitized. As a result of these innovations, VIDAR’s
SmartFeeder reduces the four-step process of many traditional batch film feeders to just one step.
- The new VIDAR SmartFeeder has undergone extensive testing by VIDAR in close partnership with
leading CAD providers, and its performance has been confirmed in a reliability analysis completed
by outside experts.

VIDAR’s unique ADC (Automatic Digitizer Calibration) prompts the CAD PRO Advantage to
calibrate automatically before every film digitized, eliminating the need for manual calibration.
